Spent most of yesterday at an Enterprise Privacy Group meeting on identity management. Many present were highly sceptical of the government's ID card plans.
Two presentations in particular were interesting. Jerry Fishenden described Microsoft's new InfoCard technology, which appears to be a well-designed system to minimise the personal information gathered by web sites. John Madelin went through RSA's technology that allows risk-based decisions to be made on the level of authentication required for specific transactions.
Everyone retired afterwards to continue the discussions at the pub!
