Queen TonyPhilippe Auclair cannot understand why his compatriots are so besotted with Blair's Britain:

What the French don’t realise is that Blair and his cronies have unleashed the most serious assault on civil liberties of any British government. Britain has the fullest jails in Europe, cameras follow the every move of subject/suspects… I have long believed that my native country could learn much from her neighbour; but that which she could learn — tolerance, distrust of blind patriotism, the right for the individual not to conform, the conviction that any man is as good as the next person — is precisely what the new Labour project is eroding in its aimless march
