It was odd how he met such resistance. I first visited HK for the handover, and moved out there soon afterwards. I never encountered a local Chinese person who had a bad word to say about Chris Patten, and most of them spoke of him with affection. I wonder how they feel after 9 years under Beijing?

He was all over the TV and nearly mobbed in HK promoting his book last November while I was last visiting :)
